The Best of Times, the Worst of Times
8:47 pm Mar 2The Best and Worst Case Scenarios are now posted on the SP and RP player profiles. Hitters will be up later this week.
Starting Pitchers
Relief Pitchers
These should give you a good idea of upside and risk going into your draft. Generally, the best players have the least risk and most expected reward. Of course, there are always factors that we can't logically predict going into a season such as injuries to players who don't have histories or warning signs, but these best and worst case scenarios are drawn using the most logical and factual warning signs and figures that we have at this time.
It is widely noted that the best pitcher projections only carry a correlation near .50, so the best and worst case scenarios are especially notable for pitchers. At the end of the day, you are buying risk over reward at your draft. It's worth repeating: The most expensive players at your draft are those that have the largest expected reward and smallest risk. Pitchers are always riskier than hitters, which is one reason why hitters generally go earlier than pitchers in drafts.
If Edinson Volquez leaves a spring start and needs an MRI tomorrow, then his worst case scenario would likely have worse expected results than what is present today. And thus his risk would also significantly increase.
Just keep risk vs. reward in mind as you read the best and worst case scenarios heading into your draft.
Updates, Updates, and More Updates!
11:04 pm Feb 26Some exciting updates to share with you:
On the article front, Rob Leibowitz's Position Battles continue to be posted as well as Fantasy Roundtables and a Using Projected Player Values piece from Scott Wilderman that is important when you go into the draft with the Fantasy Customizable Projections/Dollar Values.
And speaking of the Customizable Projections, available tomorrow (Friday) will be the ability to export the stats and values into Excel. Upon exporting the projections, the spreadsheet will automatically separate the positions into individual worksheets. This is especially useful if you will be participating in your draft online or bringing a laptop to your draft. Plus, you can already export the Sortable Projections to Excel.
As always, we continue to update the projections and player profiles DAILY.
Look At Me, I'm Updated!
11:27 pm Feb 17You will notice while perusing the player profiles and projections that they are updated daily. While the team designations are updated automatically by our database (that's you, Adam Kennedy of the Tampa Bay Rays), we are hard at work updating projections and player profile write ups with each passing day and transaction.
As the draft season arrives each weekend in March, we will be updating the Draft Kit even more furiously.
We are also adding more articles on an almost daily basis. To date we have posted Jason Collette's outstanding look at the validity of Spring Training Numbers, as well as several roundtables and Position Battle pieces from Rob Leibowitz.
At the time of this writing, there are 114 articles if we include the team reports. With well over one month until opening day, I would not be at all surprised to see 150 articles when all is said and done.
Coming Soon
All of the pitcher best and worst-case scenarios will be added to the player profiles very soon, along with fringe prospects, top 10 prospects, and 40-man roster players. I will most certainly be keeping you up to date on the status of all these features.
As if you needed the Draft Kit to be presented in any other modes, we will soon be featuring a special video message from Publisher and SVP Business Development, Ryan Houston.
Owner's Edge Baseball Draft Kit: Designed to Embarrass the Competition
6:01 pm Feb 13It's early February and we can almost smell the pine tar. Pitchers and catchers will be reporting to spring training soon enough, and all will be right with the world.
For fantasy baseball owners, that means it's time to sort through the projections and cheat sheets and read up on the sleepers and busts for draft day.
We, at Owner's Edge, have been hard at work on that endeavor and changing the way you approach draft day. We have worked night and day making it our sole purpose since before the 2008 season even ended.
WHY SHOULD YOU BUY?
That's the bottomline. You want to know what differentiates our Draft Kit from the free fantasy info that you find elsewhere, or even other "premium" draft kits.
1. The Best Staff
Seemingly every fantasy company claims to have the "best fantasy baseball experts." Of course, we can actually backup that claim. The Owner's Edge MLB staff that built the Draft Kit has more than one century of experience in the industry collectively and includes more Tout Wars Expert League members than any other company and more Expert League winners than any other company.
2. Quality and Quantity
Our slogan - "Designed to Embarrass the Competition" - has a double meaning. First, the info in the Draft Kit is designed to help you embarrass your competitors in your league(s). Second, the Draft Kit is designed to far exceed any other draft product in existence. We have more player profiles (>1,700), more prospect reports (>30 articles), more strategy articles (11 and counting), more analysis, and more importantly, more updates...
3. Updates Until Opening Day
Opening Day is even later than usual this season, and it is imperative that you get the most up to date news, analysis, projections, and cheat sheets going into your draft. The Owner's Edge Baseball Draft Kit has you covered with weekly projection and cheat sheet updates and daily updates to player profiles, articles, and features.
